Cyber fashion - be freak of the party

As i'm trying to present as many as possible subculture stylings today I've decided that it's time for one extreme fashion - CYBER... Cyber  style incorporates extravagant hair pieces and styles, including synthetic dread locks, cyberlox, extensions and so on. These hair pieces can be made of a variety of materials, from real hair to synthetic kankelon hair to plastic tubing, rubber and foam and are often accented with goggles. Cyber fashion combines rave, rivethead, and goth fashion, as well as drawing inspiration from cyberpunk and other forms of science fiction. Androgyny is common. The style features one starkly contrasting bright or neon-reactive theme colour, such as red, blue, neon green, chrome, or pink. Just look at it:

Well, the song here is actually industrial, but cyber style origins from industrial mixed with rave and techno,so..  I like that group Dulce Liquido, you can check them out in youtube or download from Soulseek.

Dandizettes and Dandy boys

As I started the topic for girls with boys attitude it's time to cross the street and enter into middle class, where has born the style "dandy". First used only by men, than wide spread between women, till it reaches today fashion.
A dandy (also known as a beau or gallant) is a man who places particular importance upon physical appearance, refined language, and leisurely hobbies, pursued with the appearance of nonchalance in a cult of Self. Historically, especially in late 18th- and early 19th-century Britain, a dandy, who was self-made, often strove to imitate an aristocratic lifestyle despite coming from a middle-class background.
So dandizettes is the female version of dandy. Well, in 19th century this meant a woman obssed by fashion and clothes, trying to look classy and above people of her class, but the woman of 19th century was dressed in woman's clothes. What is happening in 21st than? As i couldn't find an exact definition of what exactly should one dandizette wear nowadays - woman ot male clothes I decided to write my own opinion without serching other sources of information.  In 20th century Paul Poiret made a revolution in fashion removing the corset and crinoline and making slim silhouettes. He freed women from that heavy wardrobe they had. After the revolution was made it didn't pass long when Coco Chanel herself dressed in mannish clothes, and adapted these more comfortable fashions which other women also found liberating. So in my opinion the modern female dandy is exactly a woman dressed in stylish, elegant clothes but with elements taken from man's wardrobe. It could be skirt , it could be pants, it could be everything, but has a detail which is not feminine - hat, tie, bow ties, shirt, etc. These were the symbols of well-dressed man in 18th century, that's why they become a main treat of dandy today. So what's the main answer of what is dandy? I'll say it shortly.

Dandy in the 18th century was a person who is obsessed with clothes and who is pretending ot be upper class. Today we call dandy people who dress themselves in outfits that have 18th century elements - top hat, tie, shirt, bowler hat, etc.

First I want to show you some pictures of Paul Poiret models, compared to late 19th cetury fashion, so you will have the idea how much this person was inovative and unique for his time.

Dresses from 19th century

Paul Poiret models:

Poiret made the first modern dandy girls with men details in clothing. Here are the 21st century girls and of course boys. Boys of our time are dandy if they are still using some really old elements, remained through the centuries and living between our modern jeans and rocker jackets.

Girls=BoyZ - Girlz dressed like boyZ, Hooligan girlZ,,Girlz GET RUDE

After so many topics about colorful styles it's time for my eye to rest. So I picked my next subjec to be the boyish girls. In that category I want to put not only gils dressed in typical man wear like the well- known dandy style, but also girls that can be in skirts but have that rude, arogant look that we are more often used to see in boys from the suburban arias. These girls are brave, don't have nothing elegant and girly in them, but in my opinion they have some sexy magic. Even the most glamourous Hollywood queen with thousands of dollars can't have that sex appeal. Nasty looks, bushy hairs, torn jeans, army boots, so nice on girls.
Of course the other side of the street is catwalk, presenting the "dandy" style.
But this fall one new aspect of man fashion will conquer the women's wardrobes - Zoro - hats, pants, mantle.

Let's see first the street galz with boyish charm, and boyish attitude.

AFRICA street fashion

I showed you some of the most eccentric styles from the streets of Japan  and it's time to move on for another as interesting style based in Africa. That African fashion and African inspired fashion is gaining immensely in popularity is no surprise. The most influential African blogs and websites continue to promote this trend in world fashion. However, what is less documented or discussed is the slow but strong emergence of African Street Fashion. Now in this post you will not see the well-known afro tribal elements that have become world wide famous and everybody has seen them even in the most expensive boutiques. Almost every designer has used tribal afro spirit in collections. So forget about them. Africa has developed amazing street culture. So artistic and brave. Thumbs up for these fresh young people.

Nu Rave fashion - ready for clubbing

So what is new (nu) rave music and style? New rave (sometimes spelled nu rave or neu rave) is a term applied to several types of music that fuse elements of electronic music, new wave, rock, indie, techno, trance, breakbeat and electro house . It is most commonly applied to an arguable British-based music scene between 2005 and late 2008 of fast-paced electronica-influenced indie music that celebrated the late 1980s' Madchester and rave scenes through the use of neon colours and using the term 'raving' to refer to going nightclubbing.
The aesthetics of the new rave scene are largely similar to those of the original rave scene, being mostly centred around psychedelic visual effects. Glowsticks, neon and other lights are common, and followers of the scene often dress in extremely bright and fluorescent colored clothing. Indeed, many consider New Rave to be defined more by the image and aesthetic of its bands and supporters, than by the somewhat vague sonic criteria.
I'll add that nu rave styling is widely spread on techno festivals nowadays and has increased its popularity among the young people.

Klaxons, Trash Fashion, New Young Pony Club, Hadouken!, Late of the Pier and Shitdisco are generally accepted as the main exponents of the genre (although some of them disavow the term entirely).

And let see photos representing the new party style, after the old is already in the past. First I want to post pictures from one catwalk taking place at London Fashion Week. Its name is Fashion East and that comunity has the tast to promote new designers. One "star" from that vrew who already is working alone is the genial Gareth Pugh. In 2007 Louise Goldin, Danielle Scutt, and Henry Holland were sharing the incubator for great minds. And this is probably the first official catwalk with elements - Nu Rave. Henry Holland has created the first 17 outfits of the catwalk in party new rave style.  Here are some of the most interesting looks from the event.

Lolita style

I promised to write more about Lolita styling in fashion that originated in Japan. There are many kinds or modern Lolitas nowadays,so we need to know the major elements which consists one Lolita look. A Lolita outfit is composed of basic key elements. These can be broken down into: headwear, blouse, bell-shaped skirt, undergarment, legs, and footwear. Each element is essential in creating the proper Lolita aesthetic, but as you will see, there is much room for variety within them. Although none of these can be called absolute necessities, remember that coordinating a Lolita outfit is a bit like making a cake. You can take away or replace a couple of ingredients, but if you take away the butter, the sugar, and the milk, it just stops being cake.

Gothic Lolita outfit like all Lolita styles, is very modest in today's standards. As with other Lolita styles a Gothic Lolita outfit can usually be recognized by the bell-shaped skirt, and puff-sleeves. A Gothic Lolita outfit is usually comprised of black or rich dark colors such as burgundy, purple and navy.

Japanese street styles

After presented the most shocking style in Japan - ganguro it's time to see other street outfits. They are also very extravagant, unique and colorful, but the make-up is less. Let's get down in the Japanese underground.
At present there are many styles of dress in Japan, created from a mix of both local and foreign labels. Some of these styles are extreme and avant-garde, similar to the haute couture seen on European catwalks. Though the styles have changed over the years, street fashion is still prominent in Japan today. Young adults can often be found wearing subculture attire in large urban fashion districts such as Harajuku, Ginza, Shinjuku and Shibuya. Main street style names :

Lolita (gothic, sweet, punk, classic)- there are many more Lolita styles, but I will make another article dedicated to the whole Lolita story, styles and fashion streams.

KOGAL style - The kogal fashion involves wearing an outfit based on a Japanese school uniform, but with a shortened skirt, loose socks, and often dyed hair and a scarf as well.

GANGURO girls - journey to JAPAN

As I was travelling in my mind east of Europe to far away India, I decided to continue my fashion travel up to unknown Japan. Japan modern culture is very different from Europe, much more extravagant, wild, strange, hardly acceptable by ordinary people. I admire Japenese for their invention of something unique. I do lovve everything that is new, one of a kind and extravagant. Talking about Japan I want to present two things about fashion there. First is Ganguro style with its two courses -  Yamanba and Manba. Second is the street people from the streets in Japan.

Now let's pay attention to Ganguro fashion. What it is?
Ganguro (:顔黒 "Black Face", pronounced 'ganguro') is an alternative fashion trend of blonde or orange hair and tanned skin among young Japanese women that peaked in popularity around the year 2000. The Shibuya and Ikebukuro districts of Tokyo were the centers of ganguro fashion. Ganguro appeared as a new fashion style in Japan in the early 1990s and to date is prevalent mostly among young women. In ganguro fashion, a deep tan is combined with hair dyed in shades of orange to blonde, or a silver grey known as "high bleached". Black ink is used as eye-liner and white concealer is used as lipstick and eyeshadow. False eyelashes, plastic facial gems, and pearl powder are often added to this. Platform shoes and brightly-coloured outfits complete the ganguro look. Also typical of ganguro fashion are tie-dyed sarongs, miniskirts, stickers on the face, and many bracelets, rings, and necklaces. Researchers in the field of Japanese studies believe that ganguro is a form of revenge against traditional Japanese society due to resentment of neglect, isolation, and constraint of Japanese society. This is their attempt at individuality, self-expression, and freedom, in open defiance of school standards and regulations.  But nothing explains better fashion than pictures so have a look and that wild girls.

Manish Arora - psychedelic colours and kitsch motifs

The rumours seem to be right . Manish Arora is the new creative director of Paco Rabanne. After long pause since 2006 the fashion house will start to operate again. First collection (Spring/Summer 2012 ) made by Manish Arora will be presented in October this year during the fashion week in Paris. So the good new is that we will see interesting ideas of Arora, recreated through the eyes of Paco Rabanne.
Manish Arora is regarded by many as "the John Galliano of India", Manish is an alumnus of National Institute of Fashion Technology in New Delhi; he started his eponymous label in 1997, and today he is known for a rich palette of psychedelic colors and kitsch motifs, in garments that combine traditional Indian crafts like embroidery, appliqué and beading with Western silhouettes. Today his label is available in 84 stores worldwide.
When I wrote about candy fashion I realised that for each style in fashion there is a particular music and video vision. So to make the impression more vivid I decided to use music and video clips. Talking about psychedelic , and India , the first in my mind is of course the region Goa and endless trance parties. So let's feel the mood of that magical place . Fractal art and psychedelic music represent completely the creations of Manish Arora. Enjoy!

And if McQuuen is the genius of the dark fairy-tale heroes Arora is presenting us the bright side of the story. Positive, colorful, fairies, butterflies, and endless warm days in forests of flowers, simply magic.

Be a prom queen

As the proms are here already. I desided to post some beautiful evening dresses. Most of the teens here are obssesed with the wedding-cake look, lots of make-up, artificial tan, sparkling fondation and a lot of skin showing. I won't post pictures of those fashion mistakes. Everybody can imagine one. Firstly I want to represent you two designers who are popular overseas, ( in Hollywood), and have made evening dresses that are stylish, interesting and perfect for a luxurous night.

Facebook hunt for pictures - 1

Most of people have really stupid, uninteresting photos in facebook. They are normally taken by little soup-like cameras and are not good quality. People like to put their cats, babies, husbands, boyfrinds and families in the social net. It's hard to find a quality or interesting, or original photo, so I started a facebook hunt for cool and arty pictures that worth seeing. Here are the photos that I found after looking through many albums in my friends profiles. Let's star the hunt now!

Two-color lips

,While I was surfing through fashion websites I found one new trend that I haven't noticed till now anywhere else. I'm eager to try it out tomorrow when I go out in the city. So the thing that I liked so much and impressed me is two-colored lips. They appeared at Dhini spring/summer 2011 collection at Australian fashion week. Colors are orange and purple . Important to know for a good look with such a lipstick is to keep eyes clear. Just the lipstick is enough , bare eyes with little mascara and some foundation on the eyebrows if they are too dark and you'll have that glamorous look. This is a one-two colour punch. Keep the skin clean, the contouring subtle and let the lips stand alone - they're more than capable.
  • Top lip: Haute Pink lip pencil, DeVine Godess Hara lipstick
  • Bottom lip: Pinoit Noir lip pencil, DeVine Goddess Calypso lipstick
The rest of the face was kept fresh and pared back with subtle contour to the cheeks, softly defined brows, and lashings of NP 'Peep Show' mascara.

You can see the whole catwalk of Dhini  here.

COLORS - summer 2011

Colors for this summer are bright, pure , no milky tones, no dark , no beige. Of course safari style requires the beige as a color , but safari is not only summer tendence. It started to be in trend since last summer so let's put it in 2011 and go on with 2011 newly come colors. White is important too. It dominates in the lace dresses, especially in the collection of Dolce & Gabbana. But bright pure colors, are the most noticable.
The colors that make up this Spring 2011 color trend are mostly named after flowers: iris, viola, daffodil, poppy, and geranium. Unsurprisingly, should this color scheme take your fancy, this one should be worked into your Spring 2011 wardrobe as a part of your florals....

Trends of summer 2011 - the NO group

Let's continue now with the NO group of trends for this season. I've already showed you my YES ones, which I like and wear. The things that I'll put in negative positions are here due to :
1. Lack of good vision
2. Shape that makes people look fat, short, funny, etc.
Here they are - summer trends that are trendy, but you'd better not wear them, because you might become a fashion victim.

Maxi dress see through

Well....There's no need of much explanation why this is a big NO. It's obviuos. But...read more
